That said, Ephesus was amazing. From a spiritual perspective, it was very moving to sit in the amphitheater knowing others had sat there and listened to Paul preach, before he was forced to run for his life! It was great to have context for the book of Ephesians and to imagine the beloved apostle, John, living there with Mary, the mother of Jesus.
Equally impressive was both the work required to restore this massive city and the scale of the architecture!
After leaving Ephesus, we stopped and visited one of the few places where both Muslims and Christians pray together: the home where it is believed Mary was hidden by John after the death of Jesus.
On departure, we headed to the city of Bodrum, catching our first sight of the Mediterranean Sea. It's a bustling cosmopolitan city. The shops outside our hotel were hopping with business and showing no signs of closing when we retired at midnight. Here are a couple of shots from our hotel room balcony.
Probably won't post again for a couple of days.....too busy swimming in the Mediterranean!
Location:Ephesus, Bodrum
