Today we spent time touring the Bodrum Castle, built by the Knights of St. John ,beginning in 1402. It served as refuge to Christians in Asia Minor. Today it is a museum of underwater discoveries and provides incredible views of the Bodrum Peninsula. The first pic is of a nighttime view, followed by shots from our visit today.
Last night's dinner found us next to a birthday party at the restaurant, complete with a belly dancer and a musician singing and playing a tureng, the Turkish version of an autoharp. We dined as the sun set and the lights of the city painted an impressionistic picture on the surface of the water.
We shed a few tears as we said goodbye to our friend and traveling companion, Nancy tonight. Walking back from the bus stop, we were lured into joining a 7-hour cruise around the peninsula tomorrow....it's tough, but somebody has to keep these captains employed!
